Course Description
Overview
This GDPS Logical Corruption Protection (LCP) Manager Workshop is intended for technical customer staff (systems programmers, storage specialists, automation specialists, operations/production control specialists, etc) who are new to GDPS LCP Manager and are looking to develop their GDPS skills because their job directly or indirectly involves GDPS. It is also intended for IBM technical professionals (IT specialists, IT architects, technical sales specialist, etc) who will be involved in implementing or architecting a GDPS LCP Manager solution for their customers. Project managers who will manage a GDPS LCP Manager implementation project will also benefit.Note that customer attendance is restricted to customers with a valid GDPS LCP Manager license.
GDPS LCP Manager will also be positioned within the overall IBM Z Cyber Vault solution aimed at enabling clients to meet their cyber resiliency objectives for the mainframe platform. Please note that we do not teach or discuss the pre-requisite products or solutions for GDPS LCP Manager, such as Parallel Sysplex, DS8000, NetView or System Automation as part of this workshop other than where they directly impact the GDPS LCP Manager feature. Also note that the focus of the workshop is on Safeguarded Copy-based LCP functions rather than use of FlashCopy for a similar purpose.
Objectives
Upon completion of the GDPS LCP Manager Implementation Workshop, students will be able to:
- Implement GDPS LCP Manager
- Understand the content and purpose of GDPS LCP Manager Management Profiles
- Understand the GDPS LCP Manager functions and components
- Understand Controlling System requirements for GDPS LCP Manager
- Understand operational considerations for GDPS LCP Manager
- Design test processes to ensure recovery ability
- Develop scripts to execute GDPS LCP Manager Use Cases
Audience
IBM Specialists or qualified Customer with working experience in one or more of the following areas:
- GDPS Metro or GDPS Global – GM
- Remote Copy (Metro Mirror or Global Mirror)
- Systems Operations (IPLing systems etc)
- Systems Automation and NetView
Prerequisites
- This workshop is restricted to employees of enterprises with an existing, supported, GDPS LCP Manager license.
- Students should have a good working knowledge in one of the following areas:
- IBM DS8000 Storage and/or remote copy administration/management
- z/OS and Sysplex management
- IBM Systems Automation and NetView
