Course Description
Overview
Learn how to perform system administration in an IBM Power environment. Learn about the features of PowerVM Editions and how to configure and manage LPARs running AIX V7.3 or Linux using the Hardware Management Console (HMC).
Objectives
- Analyze key concepts related to managing IBM Power processor-based systems, including logical partitioning, dynamic partitioning, virtual processors, virtual consoles, and shared processors
- Evaluate the functions and capabilities provided by the Hardware Management Console (HMC)
- Administer the HMC environment, including user access and permissions, software maintenance, startup and shutdown, remote access, network configuration, security settings, backup and restore options, and reload procedures
- Configure and manage logical partitions (LPARs) by using both the HMC graphical user interface and HMC command-line tools
- Execute power operations for IBM Power servers by using the HMC
- Manage partition backup and restore operations through the HMC
