Overview
Obtain a working knowledge of AIX 6 internals concepts related to file systems and LVM. The course provides background information useful to AIX technical support personnel and AIX development/application engineers who are new to the AIX kernel environment.

- Describe data structures used by the logical and virtual file system layers
- Explain key characteristics of the JFS file system
- Describe data structures used by the JFS file system
- Give a description of the /proc file system and explain how it is used
- Explain key characteristics of the JFS2 file system
- Describe data structures used by the JFS2 file system
- Describe key structures used by the kernel to store LVM-related information

Prerequisites
- Basic "user-level" knowledge of the AIX environment or of another UNIX or UNIX-like environment
- Knowledge of AIX system administration (helpful)
- Basic reading knowledge of the C programming language
- Basic knowledge of AIX process and memory management internals that can be gained by attending AIX 6 Internals I: Process and Memory Management (AT62)
